There are various types of techniques for manufacturing precision models on the dental technology market. The system presented here, called the “BUCCIA system”, envisages a reduced number of processing steps, less consumption of gypsum and it does not require use of glues. Moreover, this system entails technical advantages due to a unique dimension of the reference base plate – suitable for impressions of any size – and to the enhanced precision of the final model. The system provides that the base plate (which is interchangeable) may be reused for several different models, that there is no need for a further plate to check articulation, requires reduced maintenance and, if the plate is cleaned by means of a steam sterilizer (steam within a protective environment Tmax = 100°C) it does not undergo any distortion or deformation that affect the processing. However, the main characteristic provided by this system is the drastically reduced time required by the whole processing cycle, which entails saving a lot of time.
